Week 12!! (Get your Head in the Game!)

Image
Mi gente! Cómo está yendo su semana? Mi semana fue increíble! Transfers happened!! My new companion is Elder Poppitti, from the Canary Islands. It's a crazy time and there's so many things that go on. Since I'm the missionary that knows the area, I get to introduce my new companion to the area and everyone we're teaching, even though he's the senior companion. I was a little scared at first being soo green, but the gift of tongues kicked in and I felt like I could talk and communicate well! I have a bit more responsibility now and Elder Poppitti sometimes lets me take the reins and use my greenie Spanish, it's awesome. Okay, the theme for this week is from... that's right, you guessed it, High School Musical. One of the things Elder Poppitti and I are doing is street contacting and I love it. I count it as a small miracle when I have conversations with people in the street and actually am able to understand and converse a bit. After talking to a number of pe...

Week 11! (Free Agency type vibes)

Mi gente! Espero que todo esté bien!  Gandia is amazing as always and I still can't get over the fact that I'm currently living in Spain spreading the gospel. Sometimes I just get up and I can't believe it so I go to our balcony and try to take it all in. Another exciting thing happened this week...let me set the scene. The day has come, it's all anyone can talk about. It's the big day, nothing else matters, even food and water seem insignificant. Time seems to stand still. My companion and I share apprehensive glances and the other Elders share their predictions. Awkward laughter erupts. If you look closely you can see the beads of sweat forming on my brow. The phone rings. Excited whispers fill the room. The district leader answers and begins to take notes. The information he receives will determine our destinies (for the next 6 weeks). That's right, it's transfer day! Turns out...... I get to stay in Gandia!! I'm so hyped! I'm getting a new compan...

Week 10!! (Milagros?!)

Buenas mis amigos!!  What a week!! I don't think I can fit all the awesome things into one email but I'll sure try and not make it super long for you guys! Overall summary of the week: We had zone conference in Valencia this week! It was awesome to be able to be with President and Hermana Villar and hear their words of advice and have fun with our zone while learning how to be better missionaries and disciples of Christ! We got back in Gandia Wednesday night and got back to work! We've had lots of lessons and tons of new friends! One of which already has a baptism date! (I'll talk more about this later!) Speaking of friends, I got to see Maddy! For those of you who don't know, Maddy is one of my really good friends from Reno and she's spending a year in Gandia! It was so awesome to have a little Reno reunion in Gandia!  Story of Tatiana: While we were in Valencia, Elder Murillo and I received a reference that una mujer se llama Tatiana wanted to meet with us. We...

Week 9! (Wonderful Wizard of Oz)

Buenas mi gente! Cómo fue su semana?? It was an awesome week in the streets of Gandia! Fasten your seat belts, cause just like a BYU football game after a 2.5 hour delay, you're gonna laugh, cry, cheer, jump out of your seat, and maybe yell at the screen. (no I didn't get to watch the game) Ok, you won't do any of those things, here are the highlights. My Spanish is improving, simple hellos and introductions are going better, but anything beyond that is a no go jajaja. The ward and all our friends compliment my Spanish and say it's getting better! I think they're just being nice haha. Despite my limited skills, the work is moving forward! We have a baptism date set for the 18th with our friend Frank and 3 friends that are super super close🙏! It's been so awesome to (try) and teach them and see their testimonies grow and develop!  What does the Wizard of Oz have to do with missionary work in Gandia? Good question, let me explain. The wizard of Oz starts with a b...
